Adventure activities

Use the Orange Kloof Tented Camp as a base from which to explore all the outdoor activities and wildlife of Orange Kloof and the Table Mountain National Park. Embark on adventurous days of Table Mountain hikes, birding, mountain biking, surfing, diving, snorkeling, abseiling, caving and fishing. The possibilities are endless at the Orange Kloof Tented Camp.

Table Mountain Hiking Trails

Hike the magnificent 2 day Orange Kloof Trail and overnight in the exclusive Orange Kloof Tented Camp. The Camp also serves as overnight accommodation on the new 5 day Hoerikwaggo Trail from Table Mountain to Cape Point. Explore excellent designated routes on your mountain bike tackling challenging down-hills, untouched rugged terrain and leisurely rides. You will need a mountain biking permit to gain access to most of these thrilling routes.

Explore the Fauna and Flora

Be on the lookout for Klipspringer, Caracal and Duiker as well as the agile Dassie, Cobra’s and Puff Adders. Avid birders will be treated to sightings of an array of terrestrial and coastal birds including Cape Siskin, Peregrine Falcon, African Fish Eagle, Spotted Eagle Owl, Black Oyster Catchers, Black Eagle and many more.

Along the Orange Kloof Trail and in the Orange Kloof forest there is abundant Afromontane forest and fynbos, part of the Cape Floral Kingdom, the smallest and richest floral kingdom on earth. Discover exciting rare treats such as Red Disa and King Protea.

Children activities

One of the major missions of the Table Mountain National Park is to get the youngsters involved and interested in nature. A range of exciting programmes and activities for children of all ages are available, recreational and curriculum-linked. There are special designated facilities where children can learn all about conservation in the Table Mountain National Park and other National Parks of South Africa.

Orange Kloof Tented Camp is in close proximity to Sunbird Centre in Silvermine, People’s Hut on top of Table Mountain, Bordjiesdrift Environmental Education Centre and Buffelsfontein Visitor Centre.

Picnic and braai (barbecue) spots

Very few things beat a delicious meal in the midst of scenic forests and untouched wilderness. Hidden in the tranquil forests are a variety of braai and picnic spots around Orange Kloof and the Table Mountain National Park. Families and friends can gather under the lush pine trees in the Newlands Forest, at the scenic braai site on the banks of the Silvermine Dam, Oudekraal’s coastal delight or the popular Tokai Plantation.

Cape Town activities

Because the Orange Kloof Tented Camp is only 15 minutes drive from Cape Town’s city centre, and only 5 minutes from Hout Bay, it is the perfect natural retreat from which to explore Cape Town’s most popular attractions, nightlife, international cultural and sporting events. Cape Town activities include, for example, a visit to the V&A Waterfront shopping centre, a trip to Robben Island or sports activities like surfing or sailing.
